Why do objects disappear when I zoom in Blender? (clipping explained)

Updated 2026-10-23

If parts of your model vanish when you zoom out, or the camera render cuts off the background, you are hitting the clipping range: Blender only draws what lies between Clip Start and Clip End.

  • Viewport: N panel › View › Clip Start / End. Default 0.01 m to 1000 m.
  • Camera: Camera Properties › Lens › Clip Start / End. Default 0.1 m to 100 m, so large scenes get cut off in the render.
  • Flickering surfaces (z-fighting): a very small Clip Start with a large Clip End loses depth precision. Raise Clip Start rather than only lowering it.
  • Rule of thumb: set Clip End a bit beyond your farthest object and Clip Start as large as your nearest detail allows.
